ELECTROLA "SWING - MUSIC" and "ON THE AVENUE" SERIES

ON THE AVENUE The record numbers of the "ELECTROLA SWING - MUSIC" series were added into the normal catalog. Like "COLUMBIA" edition, "hot" Dancemusic was offered besids movie tunes and ethnic songs. "Hidden" in this mixture, all over sudden the extra labeled "SWING - MUSIC" was to find. Ba coincidence, some records of real Swing Music were never added to this series, like a few DUKE ELLINGTON and BENNY GOODMAN editions that never had the Swing label.

ON THE AVENUE Another special series appeared in October 1937. Four records had the extra mark "ON THE AVENUE" on the label, due to the big success of that Hollywood movie even in Germany. Seven songs recorded by American "VICTOR" were published on the German "ELECTROLA" label. One funny appearance is shown on record E.G. 4010, by FATS WALLER: As only one tune on this record is from the movie, the backside is labeled in a normal way with no extra addition at all.

  • E.G. 4009 : RAY NOBLE
Slumming On Park Avenue / I´ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm
  • E.G. 4010 : FATS WALLER
You´re Laughin At Me / ums. OHNE AUFDRUCK : Who´s afraid Of Love?
  • E. G. 4011 : BENNY GOODMAN
He Ain´t Got Rhythm / This Year´s Kisses
  • E. G. 4012 : WAYNE KING
The Girl On The Police Gazette / You´re Laughin At Me

A CD with a selection of "ELECTROLA SWING MUSIC" will appear in the months to follow (Nr. HDN 5063).
